Process

How an inquiry becomes a considered home

Designing or renovating a home is a significant undertaking, but the process itself should never feel chaotic.

The studio works through a clear sequence of stages, with collaboration and communication throughout. Decisions are made in the right order, at the right time, with space to consider them properly before moving forward.

Every project is different. A condominium renovation and a new-build family home won't require exactly the same journey, so the scope of each stage is tailored accordingly. What remains consistent is the process behind the thinking.

  1. 01

    Initial Inquiry

Every project begins with a little information about you, your property and what you're hoping to achieve.

Through the inquiry form, you'll be asked to share where the property is located, the type of project you're considering, your anticipated timeline and where you currently are in the process.

Each inquiry is reviewed personally by the studio before arranging the next step.

  2. 02

    Discovery Call & Site Visit

This is where we get to know you, your home and how you want to live within it, and the first consultation is complimentary.

Nadine takes the time to understand how you and your family use the space, what currently works, what doesn't, and how you would like the finished home to feel.

Where possible, this is followed by a visit to the property to experience the space firsthand, assess its opportunities and constraints, and review any existing architectural drawings, surveys or relevant project information.

The aim isn't simply to understand how you want your home to look. It's to understand how you want it to work for you.

  3. 03

    Scope & Proposal

Following the discovery stage, the studio prepares a tailored proposal outlining the recommended scope of work for your project.

The proposal clearly sets out the services required, the stages involved, the expected deliverables and the associated design fees.

Everything is agreed before the design work begins, creating a clear framework for the project from the outset.

Clarity here matters. Decisions left ambiguous at the beginning have a habit of becoming expensive decisions later.

  4. 04

    Design Phase

This is where the vision for your home begins to take shape.

The studio explores the overall design direction through moodboards, preliminary layouts, drawings, material inspiration and visual references.

The biggest decisions are considered first: how the spaces relate to one another, circulation through the home, connections to the outdoors, furniture planning, and the overall material, colour and atmospheric direction.

The concept is presented visually, discussed together and refined until there is a clear and confident direction for the project.

  5. 05

    Design Development

Once the concept has been approved, the design is developed in greater detail, room by room.

Interior architecture, custom joinery, kitchens, bathrooms, lighting, electrical and plumbing locations, ceiling details and other fixed elements are considered, drawn and coordinated as required.

This is the stage where the overall vision becomes something that can actually be built.

Rather than leaving important decisions to be made on site, the goal is to resolve as much as possible on paper first.

  6. 06

    Materials, Finishes & Detailing

The tactile character of the home is developed through its materials.

Stone, timber, tile, paint, fabrics, hardware, plumbing finishes and other surfaces are selected as one cohesive palette rather than as isolated choices.

Wherever possible, physical samples are reviewed together and considered in the property's own light, particularly important in Cayman, where strong natural light can completely change the way a colour or material appears.

The smaller details are considered just as carefully: how materials transition, where surfaces meet and how architectural elements are finished.

These details may be subtle, but they are often what separates a space that feels simply finished from one that feels truly resolved.

  7. 07

    Procurement: Ordering, Tracking & Scheduling

Once the design and selections have received final approval, the studio begins turning those decisions into orders.

Pricing is gathered and coordinated for the elements included within the project, which may include custom millwork, materials, plumbing fixtures, lighting, appliances, furniture, rugs, artwork and accessories.

Once approved, orders are placed and the studio manages the procurement process, including supplier communication, order tracking, lead times, freight coordination and delivery scheduling.

Behind the scenes, every arrival is monitored and coordinated with the wider project programme so that installation can happen in the right sequence.

For the client, the aim is simple: far fewer emails, tracking numbers, supplier conversations and logistical decisions to manage.

  8. 08

    Install Day

This is when months of planning finally become a home.

Furniture, lighting, rugs, artwork and accessories are brought together, with the studio coordinating movers, installers and trades as required.

Nadine oversees the placement and styling of the space, working through the final details that make the rooms feel complete rather than simply furnished.

Everything considered throughout the process, from the earliest floor plan to the smallest styling piece, comes together here.

And when the doors open at the end, the intention is that it feels effortless, even though a great deal of work went into making it that way.

The first stage costs nothing but a description of the project.
