The Essentials focuses on the decisions that determine how the finished home will actually look and feel: materials, finishes, colour, lighting and the practical details that need to be established before construction progresses too far.
It is a focused design service for clients who don't require full-service interior design but want professional direction on the permanent choices they will live with every day.
- What it involves
Review of the architectural plans from an interior perspective, room and furniture planning where required, placement of built-ins, electrical and lighting planning, and the development of a cohesive palette of flooring, stone, tile, timber, paint, hardware and other finishes.
Selections are considered not only for how they look together, but for how they will perform in a Caribbean climate, including humidity, salt air, intense sunlight and everyday use.
The final selections are documented in a clear finish schedule that contractors can follow.
- Who it's for
Clients building a new home or undertaking a renovation who already have an architect, contractor or construction plan in place but need help resolving the interior selections.
- What it solves
The familiar frustrations of building without an interior plan: lighting in the wrong place, insufficient outlets, storage considered too late, rooms that don't accommodate furniture properly, and finishes chosen independently rather than as part of a whole.
It also prevents materials that look beautiful in isolation, or in a showroom, from feeling disconnected once installed throughout the house.

While the architectural drawings are still changeable and before materials, lighting, plumbing fixtures or finishes are ordered.
Ideally, the studio becomes involved during or shortly after the architect's concept stage.
